The Student Organization Center is located in Pickler Memorial
Library. The center houses seven offices that can be shared by more
than one organization. In order to be eligible for membership,
organizations must be registered with the
Center for Student Involvement. Members are
selected annually at the end of the Spring term, by the Student
Organization Center Committee and serve a 1-year term.
Mission
The Student Organization Center has been implemented to
promote diversity, incubate organizations and ideas, disseminate
information and to reward organizations that provide service to the
University. In order to achieve this vision, our efforts will
be governed by the principles of fairness, service, and cooperation
as we create a forum to celebrate diversity, support efforts of
recruitment and retention, and promote a greater sense of community
within Truman State University.
The Student Organization Center supports Truman values of creating
a diverse community of learners that aspires to do the best for
themselves, their families, their society, and their world. By
exemplifying self-reflection, inclusiveness, and commitment, our
participants will develop skills of leadership, organization,
strategic planning, and understanding of self and others.
Combining student assets of enthusiasm, idealism, energy, and a
fresh point of view, we will achieve a location that facilitates
cooperation between organizations and contributes to the
appreciation of diversity among the entire university community.
