Before renovations started on the Student Union building, there was an annual alumni dinner held at the building at the end of 2005. Members of the Oral History Team, then consisting of Amy Schweizer, Perrin Carroll and James McDonald, saw an opportunity to gain insight into the personal histories involved with the SUB and collected them through various means. Books were left on tables and in bathrooms for alumni to record their memories and the team conducted interviews which were also written in the books. Additional interviews were recorded on video.
Two meetings were also arranged with past Truman student and SUB director Jim Nevins. The first of these interviews transpired while walking around the SUB as Nevins reminisced about his history with the building (notes of this interview are compiled under interview 1, and limited footage exists). Nevins was interviewed a second time at length in his household (full footage of this interview exist and a transcript is progress of being written). All together, these elements constitute the SUB Memory project.
